Day 089: Hot N Cold

So, as an early birthday present one of my best friends, Jacqueline, bought me a ticket to join her at the Katy Perry concert that rolled into Maryland last night. It was such a sweet gift and we had uuber amounts of fun! Katy Perry really does know how to put on a great show. We got all dolled up (my friend wore a blue wig!) and danced the night away XD

Yesterday's Outfit:

Pink and colors galore! I wore my hot pink blouse tucked into some high-waisted cut off shorts with a pink skinny belt. You can't see my shoes but I was wearing black sandals that tie around the ankle. Pink lipstick+ turquoise eye make-up+glow sticks = Complete Katy Perry concert prep :D

The Breakdown:
  • Blouse: J.Crew-$20
  • Shorts: Salvation Army-$5
  • Sandals: Random store in mall-$15
  • Belt: Estate sale-free

Day 088: Somehow Unique

:) :D :* Those faces go out to all those that have continued to follow me these past 6 or so months! Thanx!! XOXO
Past Outfit:
I just felt like mixin' it up this day. I went for fun and colorful (lots of pink)! I wore my 80's vintage romper that has an old-school pink and lavender floral print on it. I added a pink belt, pink lipstick, my favoritist strappy black sandals, a couple rings, black flower stud earrings, and a brown leather bag. I also wore my new-ish sunnies. I love them because they have a modern cat eye look to them. They aren't straight up Baltimore Hon cat eye, but it doesn't have regular round frames either. :)

  • Belt: Estate sale-free
  • Shoes: Anthropologie-$50
  • Purse: Salvation Army-$5

Day 087: Sunlight Over Me

Dear readers, I apologize for it being so long since my last post. Things have been cRaZy! This evening I was supposed to get a lot done around the house and instead have spent most of the evening relaxing. I think a break from life has been much needed :) I have been doing laundry though (tons of it)! It's hard keeping up with this wardrobe ;)

Past Outfit:

This day I wore a new dress I snagged from my friend's closet when she was getting rid of a bunch of clothes. (I love when friends do that). It's a light brown/taupe color with a leaf print covering it and some white piping around the sleeves and collar. I paired it with my new-ish camel colored heels that are seriously the most comfortable pair of heels I've ever owned. I also added some fun jewelry: a gold bracelet with pearls going along it and a coral/pink beaded necklace.

The Breakdown:
  • Dress: Vintage-A gift
  • Shoes: Clarks-A gift
  • Necklace: A shop in India
  • Bracelet:: Estate sale-free

Shopping Tips

For those of you that have been following my site for some time, you may have noticed that I'm a bargain shopper. I love a good deal and rarely will be willing to pay full price for something! People often ask me how I manage to afford all the clothing I own and where on earth I find such great deals. So, I decided to type up 10 shopping tips and tricks that I use all the time when shopping! Some of these strategies may be obvious, some may be not so obvious or are often forgotten.
Enjoy :)

1//Shop the sale rack! Sometimes we are not willing to search through racks and racks of clothing but I promise it is worth it. I talk to people all the time that say, "You can afford clothes from J.Crew?" Not if I don't shop the sale rack! I recently found an originally $88 blouse for $20 :)

2//Shop online! The internet is your friend. I shop the sales at places like Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, etc. all the time and find some great stuff.

3//Double check your sources! The $20 blouse I mentioned above that I got in the store was still on "sale" for $40 online.

4//Shop vintage! I cannot tell you how many amazing things I have found in little hole in the wall shops or even at Goodwill and Salvation Army. Yard sales and estate sales are also hot spots for unique, cheap clothing!

5//Shop vintage online! Sites like Etsy and Ebay are great resources if you're willing to do a little hunting.

6//Only pay full price for the practical stuff! When you're going to the throw down some money the best things to invest in are the practical items like coats, boots, bras, etc.

7//Go cheap on the trendy stuff! When it comes to things that will most likely only be around for a season or two (fur vests...) go to the cheaper stores like H&M or Target. No need to waste big money on something that won't even be around next year.

8//Search for specific items! Bouncing off number 2 above, look at multiple places on the internet for a specific item. This is something I do all the time. I recently found a shoe called "Pali" by Dolce Vita on Zappos.com on sale for $81. Instead of stopping there I went to Google and searched "Pali Dolce Vita." I then used the shopping feature and saw every site the shoe was being sold at. I ended up finding the same shoe on sale somewhere else for $49. :)

9//Shop outlets! Outlets are a great place to find chic, quality clothing for cheaper prices. Some stores even have factory stores online such as J.Crew.

10//Shop your friends closets! I recently nabbed two huge bags from a friend who was cleaning out her wardrobe. Also, clothing swaps are a great way to re-use clothing and is a lot of fun to do with a group of your closest girlfriends!

Day 086: Coral

Hello friends!
Past Outfit:
I have lately discovered just how much I love stripes. Striped tees are such an easy, comfortable way to make an outfit look just a tad more fashionable. I wore this tee with a pair of black, pleated shorts, brown gladiator sandals, sunglasses, a fedora hat, and coral/orange lipstick. I'm so in love with the modern cat eye sunglasses and the coral lipstick that I received as an early birthday present. Orange and coral are the perfect Summer lipstick shades- it's all I'm wearing now! I have also recently concluded that I want to be a hat person. I think the royal wedding stirred up my need for head ornaments!

The Breakdown:
  • Shirt: J.Crew-$20
  • Shorts: J.Crew-$25
  • Shoes: Forever 21-$18
  • Hat: Forever 21-$6
  • Sunglasses: Target-$10
  • Lipstick: Mary Kay-A gift :)

Day 085: It Was Self Defense

Today I began my Summer classes...They actually aren't too bad. I made a lot of friends my first day and actually had fun in my women's self defense class. I'll be ready to kick some major butt after this class ends in 6 weeks. So, be prepared for the unleashing of my inner warrior princess! >:}

Now back to our regular programing of girl next door fashion...

Today's Outfit:

Today I went with a nice and creamy color palette. I wore ivory ruffled blouse, a light sage green skirt with a delicate floral pattern, and ivory sandals. I also added my cream and gold colored bangles and decided to keep my makeup light and fresh. Sometimes it's nice to add a little Spring to my Summer :D.

The Breakdown:
  • Blouse-Target-$15
  • Skirt: A consignment shop in PA-$4
  • Shoes: H&M-$12
  • Bangles: Forever 21-$5
