Day 033: Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

Okay, I feel like I have lost more things this past week then I have in the past year total. Gah! This morning I woke up, hopped in the car ready to start my busy day, and got halfway to school before I realized my parking pass was in a different car. I contacted my brother who had that car and he said "I put it on the roof of your car." Oh, super! So then I retraced every road I was on. Every red paper I saw my heart started pounding with excitement until I realized it was a red tag from an abandoned car that was once there because of all the snow. That happened over, and over, and over again until I at some point stopped looking. I kept telling myself not to sweat the small stuff--I got a new parking pass, all is right with the world =) And after a long day I got to end it hanging out with a great friend. Yay! :)

Today's Outfit:

See, I told you I wouldn't wear black today! Success! It actually was a bit challenging. I severely need to do laundry so I didn't even have my crutch-black tights. I decided to wear blue tights, a khaki skirt, and a purple, floral top. I chose that top because it has itty-bitty blue flecks in it. I also thought the purple complimented the blue well.  I wore this with brown, leather woven flats and a pendant necklace. I haven't been into tons of accessories lately. Something about a simple, minimalistic look has been attractive to me recently.

The Breakdown:

  • Shirt: Macy's-$20
  • Skirt: H&M-$7
  • Tights: Delias-$10
  • Shoes: Goodwill-$6
  • Necklace: Half Ebay, Half Grandma's house-$5

Day 032: True That! Double True!

Today was church day so I tried to dress a bit fancier and simpler than I normally do. Every week I always get dressed up for church and upon arriving realize everyones in jeans. Oh well! I was able to grab lunch with a bunch of really cool new church friends at Peace of Pizza, which I had never been to before today. I had MAC AND CHEESE pizza! Jealous? You should be!

Today's Outfit:

Today I wore a black dress with my black sweater tights again. I kept it simple and easy by just wearing a lot of red accents--red flats, red lipstick, red(mostly) beaded necklace, and a red belt that I looped. So much black! Stop the madness! I'm really going to try to not wear as much black tomorrow; i'm in a black rut. Things need to be spiced up a bit! :D

The Breakdown:
  • Dress: Target-$30
  • Tights:??
  • Flats: Target-$20
  • Belt: Estate sale-free
  • Necklace: India!-$??

Day 031: Coffee Is Taking Over My Life

Today I slept in! YAY! I got a few things done around the house and worked out a monthly budget for myself. Making a budget is not natural to my personality-I'm usually a "eh, it will work out" type of person when it comes to finances. However, I've realized it may make life a little less stressful to have some semblance of a plan...we'll see how that goes :D I also was able to meet up with a dear friend and grab coffee. I love good conversations :)

Today's Outfit:

Today I wore a purple, cotton dress that I wear in the Summer all the time. To make it Winter appropriate I added a long, black sweater and black sweater-tights. Then I just wore a leather, woven belt with those boots. Are they haunting you yet??

The Breakdown:
  • Dress: H&M-$15
  • Sweater: Pac Sun-$5 (I was very pleased with this!)
  • Tights: I have no idea!
  • Boots: L.L. Bean-$89
  • Belt: Goodwill-$4

Day 030: I Keep Secrets In My Necklace

Thursday was the day I no longer got to play in the snow anymore...I had to deal with it! Now, I love snow, but I really loathe shoveling my car out--especially when it kept getting stuck! Through that I actually feel like God really showed me what his love is like. You see, my family hasn't always been on the best terms with some of our neighbors. That day though those very same neighbors came up to me in my car as the tires were spinning in the snow and pushed me out. That is love, and I felt it!

Thursday's Outfit:
Told ya those boots would be back! I wore them with a reddish-orangish top, a black button-up skirt, and black tights. I also added a wonderful little necklace that I got from a gallery opening in Old E.C.

The Breakdown:
  • Shirt: Goodwill-$5
  • Skirt: H&M-$20
  • Tights: Urban Outfitters-$18
  • Boots: L.L. Bean-$89
  • Necklace: Gallery in E.C.-$6

Day 029: Dragging Max

Gah! School started this week and it has made me so much busier then normal! Apologies for being so far behind!!

We'll start with Wednesday...That day snow canceled half of my first day of classes. When I got home that evening I knew I wasn't going anywhere what with the roads being icy and all. So, I snuggled in and started watching a pbs period piece. Then I thought, "Do I want to do this all night?" To which I replied to myself, "No!" I decided to contact a neighbor-friend and the evening included a snow-hike up to Rite Aid for ice cream, Pride and Prejudice watching, 2 a.m. sledding, and good conversation. So much more fun then sitting in bed watching TV! :)

Wednesday's Outfit:
From this point forward for the next few days you will be seeing a lot of these snow boots. Seriously the best Christmas present ever. I wore them with a navy and black sweater dress, black tights, and a black long-sleeve top to go underneath. Then I just added a red, beaded necklace and a black and gold belt. :)

The Breakdown:
  • Sweater dress: Ebay-$30
  • Shirt: Gap-$15
  • Tights: Urban Outfitters-$18
  • Boots: L.L. Bean-$89
  • Belt: Estate sale-free
  • Necklace: A little boy selling necklaces in India-$??
Oh yeah, and a few snow pictures :D

The pictures look a bit blurry because it was snowing so hard! Also, notice in the second picture me attempting to drag my Chihuahua through the snow for a walk. My Mom eventually felt bad for him and took him inside which is why in the first one you will notice a dogless leash :-P

Day 028: Ice Skating & Taquito's

These photo's were actually taken last night-whoops! I was out ice skating, hot tubbing, and taquito eating until late into the evening/early in the morning and never was able to get to a computer. My outfit was really nothing to write home about, but since I took a picture I might as well post it!

Yesterday's Outfit:

My outfit was a good ice skating at 11pm outfit. Comfy but quirky because that t-shirt it freakin' awesome. I wore it over a black, long-sleeve top for some extra warmth. I also wore my big snow boots for some warmth and just some plain ol' jeans. If you're wondering what the nails are all about I was babysitting earlier that day. My 6 year-old neighbor set up a little salon and asked me to choose 3 colors so she could alternate nails. I think she did a wonderful job :)

The Breakdown:
  • T-Shirt: Threadless-$20
  • Long Sleeve top-Gap-$15
  • Jeans: Forever 21-$20
  • Boots: L.L. Bean-$89

Day 027: All Is Beauty, And Knowing This Is Love

So far today I went to church and then was able to get lunch with a friend at the Bean Hollow in Old E.C. Mmmm a caprese sandwich! Afterward we went to a convent where we perused a little card shop. Each card had an image designed by the All Saints Sisters along with a thought provoking message. I have already framed some of these cards that I've received in the past and plan on framing some more that I got today :) A link to this card shop can be found here!

Today's Outfit:

Yes, I wore my blazer again--hey, its new! I paired the blazer with a black, high-waisted skirt, black tights, and a kelly green shirt. I decided to wear the brown, leather woven flats that I was going to wear yesterday with a brown, leather woven belt. With all of this I wore a brownish-greenish bracelet made from an olive tree . I feel like I've been wearing a lot of black lately. Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to wear nothing thats black. Challenge time!

P.S.-Can you please just check out that second picture I posted above? I have no idea how that came about. Trippy...

The Breakdown:

  • Tights: Urban Outfitters-$18

Day 026: Aspiration And Art

Today was mostly spent in good 'ol Virginia! I was able to drive down with some friends to Leesburg, Va to go to an open house for a very talented photographer (Rebekah J. Murray, check her out: http://www.rebekahjmurray.com/ ). We were able to hit up the photobooth there (pictures to come at a later date!) which was so much fun.

While in Leesburg I...ate carrot ginger soup, drank lots of coffee, went into some boss antique shops, bought a bunch of new clothes for my etsy shop, met some lovely, self-employed 20-somethings that I aspire to be like-living an art-filled life in an artful way. It was wonderful :)

Today's Outfit:

Today was all about warmth since I was going to be doing a lot of walking. Truth be told I know I could have worn cuter shoes with this outfit...I actually was and then changed! However, it was F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G outside today, so off with the brown flats and on with the shearling boots :) I wore the boots with black tights, a khaki skirt, a rose colored blouse, and a black blazer. Oh yeah, and my khaki and white striped scarf with some red lipstick! :)

The Breakdown:
Blouse: Salvation Army-$5
Skirt: H&M-$7
Tights: Urban Outfitters-$18
Boots: L.L. Bean-$90
Blazer: H&M-$20
Scarf: American Eagle-$10

Day 025: Midnight Darkness

Hey all! Today I worked with my little kiddies. I was trying to help one of them (an almost 3 year old) finish a school project when he started making up a song. The only lyrics to this song being "I'm done, done, done, done." It made me laugh so hard I let him stop--his cute little tricks tend to work on me sometimes :-P

Also...curious about the random blog title today? My friend James Yi really wanted to decide the title and since I  was wearing a lot of black thats what he came up with...

Today's Outfit:

Today I wore a tailored, black shirt-dress with some black tights. A little plain, I know. Though from time to time I just love a black outfit with a couple of loud pieces. Those loud pieces being my floral shoes and some red lipstick (yes, I count lipstick as a piece in my wardrobe!).

Day 024: Gray Day's Can Be Productive Too

Today is such a gray, cloudy day which usually puts me in a really mellow mood. However, it's just been such a great day! I was able to grab lunch with a truly amazing friend and walk around the mall a bit. While at the mall a security guard came up to me and asked me where I got my skirt that I'm wearing today. I told her I got it from the Goodwill and she told me that it's not Goodwill but "Gucci Goodwill." Love it.

Oh yeah! And I also finally learned how to work the self-timer on my much nicer camera! Woo hoo! I was really excited to go out and take some higher quality photos today :D

Today's Outfit:

Today I wore a leopard maxi skirt with a bright redish-orangish blouse. I added some brown lace up boots, my favorite belt that has some gold details, and some new cream and gold bangles. Not exactly the best mall trekking outfit but oh well!

The Breakdown:
  • Blouse: Salvation Army-$3
  • Skirt: Gucci Goodwill-$6.50
  • Boots: Urban Outfitters-$40
  • Belt: Estate sale-free
  • Bangles: Forever 21-$7

Day 023: Your Life's A Song, So Sing Along

Today I worked and then got to hang out with a bunch of dear friends this evening! I had such a blast with them--laughing, trying to learn how to play pool and semi-succeeding (question mark), and playing stupid games late into the evening. I have great friends :) I'd write more but it's almost 3 a.m. and I'm pooped!

Today's Outfit:

Today I wore a navy polka dot skirt with a baggy yellow blouse. I added some tights, brown lace-up boots, and a long pendant necklace. My magnifying glass necklace is one of my favorites (it almost broke this evening, close call!). :)

The Breakdown:
  • Blouse: Salvation Army-$5
  • Skirt: Goodwill-$6.50
  • Tights: Urban Outfitters-$18
  • Boots: Urban Outfitters-$40
  • Necklace: A creation-approx. $5

Day 022: Capturing Snow Flakes

Today I spent time with a friend and just relaxed. It was wonderful! Started the day with a little cleaning and painting, then ended it playing in the snow! Woohoo!! Love the snow! For real!

Today's Outfit:

Though I had a great time twirling in the snow I was freezing by the end! I had to put a pic of my snow playtime ending with me nice and cozy warm by the fire :)

Today my outfit consisted of forest green cords with an ivory lace top. I love the mixture of very femine pieces with more tom-boyish ones. With this outfit I wore my leather woven flats and a single, long, red beaded necklace. To keep me nice and toasty throughout the day I wore a thick sweater, red scarf, and a mustard colored hat.

The Breakdown:
  • Lace top: Charlotte Russe-$15
  • Cords: Old Navy-$20
  • Flats: Goodwill-$7
  • Sweater: A gift. I believe from Aeropostale
  • Scarf: Old Navy-$14
