Day 038 & 039 & 040: I'm A Work In Progress

I have gotten so very behind and I apologize for this...I'm going to do better next week! Every week with school has gotten a little bit more manageable but I'm still not where I want to be stress and time management wise. I'm working on it though! Today I finally got to socialize a bit which was a lovely treat! However, towards the end of day I began to feel sick. Hopefully, some rest and downtime this weekend will be the cure! I hope everyones weekend is as magnificently relaxing as I hope mine will be :)

Day 037: Love Each Other

People need community (No, not the show. Although that's pretty freakin' awesome as well). People need others around them caring and supporting them and in return they need our support back. Well, today in simple ways I felt apart of many different communities and I loved it. I went to church where I felt the support of people willing to pray for me and walk with me through trials. I came home and felt the support of a neighbor who brought a platter full of dumplings left over from the Chinese New Year. And I felt support from a friend who studied with me today and lent me her Zumba DVD so I can exercise with my Mom.  I have felt quite loved by those around me today and I'm sure they had no idea :)

Today's Outfit:

Told ya I wouldn't take today's picture in that stupid corner! Even though the lighting in these pictures is terrible it was worth it. So, today I wore a dress I was thrilled to find at the Goodwill store. I'm thinking it was made in the 70's or 80's. Thoughts? I wore this dress with some black leggings and brown lace-up boots. Then I added some pops of color-the red belt and my red lipstick. Oh, and I also wore some gold flower stud earrings that I forgot to take a picture of-whoops!

The Breakdown:
  • Dress: Gucchi Goodwill-$6.50
  • Leggings: Kohls-$18
  • Boots: Urban Outfitters-$40
  • Belt: Estate sale-free

Day 036: A Leopard In The Bean Hollow

Studying! Studying! Studying! I'm sick of it and it's only the second week of classes! Although I will admit I'm really enjoying the different topics in Psychology that I'm learning about. At some point in the day though I really just needed a new study environment. So, I went to one of my favorite little coffee shops-the Bean Hollow in Old E.C.! Chai, indie music, a caprese sandwich-perfect! The best cure to the study and dreary day blues :)

Today's Outfit:

I'm sick of taking pictures in that corner! The second picture above was taken while I was saying, "I'm feeling so boxed in!" Tomorrow I vow there will be a break. Anyways! Today I wore a white blouse with light pink stripes going across it with a cute little lace pocket (I don't think you can really see that!). With it I wore a leopard print maxi skirt and belted it with a gold and black belt. Can you tell I love high waisted belting? I added some brown lace-up boots and voila!

The Breakdown:

  • Top: Pull And Bear-$14
  • Skirt: Goodwill-$5
  • Boots: Urban Outfitters-$40
  • Belt: Estate sale-free

Five on Friday

I meant to post this yesterday-whoops! I'm starting a new feature on my blog. Every Friday I will post five things that I'm loving. It will mostly be style related but not always. Hope you guys enjoy :)

5. Tereza Vlckova photography. Not only is the wardrobe quaint and whimsical, but the concept for the photos are amazing. The scenery makes it look like they are in some perfect, unrealistic fairy tale land. It makes you wonder whether they are flying, floating or jumping. Mysterious!

4. Tights that come in almost every color imaginable! I want some emerald ones!

3. She & Him's video for "Don't Look Back." I love every single vintage inspired look. Oh, and I love the song too of course :)

2. Yes, tights again. I can't help it. I saw these and fell in love. They're are so adorable! I might just have to buy me a pair :)

1. I love those rare days in the Winter where the skies are a beautiful shade of blue rather than gray. We had moments like this in Maryland this past week. It just simply lifted my spirits :)

Day 035: Suddenly I See

I got my hair did today! The color was tweaked a bit--you'll have to tell me what ya think! Also, I can suddenly see again (my bangs were trimmed), yay! Going to the salon gave me the opportunity to sit and do nothing for a few hours which I desperately needed. Relaxation! I don't know what it is but it just feels right to read a fashion magazine at the hair salon, as if some 50's fantasy is coming alive for me. I've had an Elle magazine sitting in my backpack for a week and finally got to look through it XD

Today's Outfit:

Today I looked in my closet and thought, "What's a dress I always wear the same way?" I saw this black velvet one tucked in there and immediately started thinking of different ways to wear it. I put a floral button up underneath, rolled up the sleeves, and buttoned it all the way up to the collar. I found some ivory tights that honestly just appeared in my drawer (I have no idea where they came from!) and wore them with my brown, lace-up boots. Red lipstick, pinned hair...done! :)

The Breakdown:
  • Black velvet dress: Ebay-$30
  • Shirt: Estate sale-free
  • Tights-??
  • Boots: Urban Outfitters-$40

P.S. I get really bored in my statistics class and doodle often...

P.P.S. This is trippy.

Day 034: Sometimes A Quiz Is A Test

Today must have been the most exhausting day that I have had in awhile. So much homework due! So much reading to be done! So many quizzes! Adjusting to student life again has been a little bit more challenging than I anticipated--I clearly have fallen out of the student rhythm very quickly. Just going to be better prepared for next week so that I don't have another day like today (optimism!). As for now...I'm relaxing, listening to the new Civil Wars album :)

Today's Outfit:
Today I wore a mustard color blouse with a black, high-waisted skirt. I put a brown, leather belt on to make things look a little bit more interesting and natural and also to cinch the skirt in a bit. With this I wore black tights and my wonderful L.L. Bean snow boots. This outfit was actually very comfortable and great for cozying up with coffee and studying, but also perfect for trekking around campus all day!

The Breakdown:

  • Top: A gift from a dear friend
  • Skirt: H&M-$25
  • Tights: Urban Outfitters-$18
  • Boots: L.L. Bean-$89
  • Belt: Goodwill-$5

Day 033: Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

Okay, I feel like I have lost more things this past week then I have in the past year total. Gah! This morning I woke up, hopped in the car ready to start my busy day, and got halfway to school before I realized my parking pass was in a different car. I contacted my brother who had that car and he said "I put it on the roof of your car." Oh, super! So then I retraced every road I was on. Every red paper I saw my heart started pounding with excitement until I realized it was a red tag from an abandoned car that was once there because of all the snow. That happened over, and over, and over again until I at some point stopped looking. I kept telling myself not to sweat the small stuff--I got a new parking pass, all is right with the world =) And after a long day I got to end it hanging out with a great friend. Yay! :)

Today's Outfit:

See, I told you I wouldn't wear black today! Success! It actually was a bit challenging. I severely need to do laundry so I didn't even have my crutch-black tights. I decided to wear blue tights, a khaki skirt, and a purple, floral top. I chose that top because it has itty-bitty blue flecks in it. I also thought the purple complimented the blue well.  I wore this with brown, leather woven flats and a pendant necklace. I haven't been into tons of accessories lately. Something about a simple, minimalistic look has been attractive to me recently.

The Breakdown:

  • Shirt: Macy's-$20
  • Skirt: H&M-$7
  • Tights: Delias-$10
  • Shoes: Goodwill-$6
  • Necklace: Half Ebay, Half Grandma's house-$5
