Day 056: The Clouds Have Opened Up

Today's sunshine was such an unexpected treasure. Am I the only one that expected today to be cold and gloomy? I was quite happy to wake up to high 50's today. Yum!

Today's Outfit:

Today I wore a bright yellow blouse with shoulder pads (yay 80's!) and high waisted denim shorts. I found these shorts at the Salvation Army sometime last Fall. They fell at a really awkward place on my leg-somewhere between mid-length shorts and bermudas..gross. So, I chopped them :) With them I wore blue tights and brown lace-up boots. A couple rings and hot pink lipstick (finally got a decent pic of the color) and voila!

The Breakdown:
  • Blouse: Goodwill-$4.50
  • Shorts: Salvation Army-$4
  • Tights: Delias-$10
  • Boots: Urban Outfitters-$40

Day 055: I'm Not That Girl

A little over a week ago I went to NYC to see a show on Broadway called Wicked! I meant to post my outfit from my day trip up there but it was pouring all day long and getting my picture taken in the sloppy, wet, cold outdoors honestly just did not interest me in the slightest. My plan was to recreate the outfit, but then I got sick this past week and now I just feel like too much time has passed. SO, I'm just going to post the couple pics I did take at the end of todays post. Enjoy :)
Yesterday's Outfit:

Yesterday's weather was bee eee aye -utiful! I had been planning all week long to wear a summer dress of sorts. So, I pulled out my Free People floral dress and wore a black leather jacket over it. Added bright pink lipstick, brown leather sandals that have a slight wedge, and my teal zebra print sunnies. Perfect outfit for hanging out with lovely friends, running errands, and babysitting (?).

The Breakdown:
  • Dress: Ebay-$30
  • Sandals: Some random store in the mall-$15
  • Sunnies: Delias-$10
  • Jacket: Target-$30
::NYC::
The view of the stage from my seat. My Dad gave me the ticket as a belated Birthday present. I think he did alright picking the seat :-P

Me in my seat at the Gershwin Theatre right before Wicked started. I was excited =)

Wonderful acting, beautiful, gorgeous voices, outstanding scenery, and a great story. Not to mention before going to the show we went to the Stardust Diner where aspiring Broadway actors are not there only as your waiter, but also as constant live entertainment. Yup, it was a great day :) I <3 New York.

P.S. The blog title of this post is the title of a song from the show Wicked if ya didn't catch that :)

Day 054:Pinkalicious

Past Outfit:

I finally got my hot pink lipstick that I've been craving for months and months! Woot woot! None of the above photos do the color justice; it is a much, much brighter pink in person. So along with my hot pink lipstick I wore my striped bow tank again (I only wore it for 2 hours the night before and love it so...go ahead and judge me!) with grey cords, a black leather, bomber jacket, black chucks, and a black eternity scarf. Can you tell I recently found my eternity scarf? I want to wear it all the time now. Also, I love the dramatic effect of wearing all muted colors with a pop of color...on my face!

The Breakdown:
  • Tank: Charlotte Russe-$15
  • Jacket: Target-$35
  • Cords: Delias-$35
  • Scarf: A gift
  • Lipstick in Pink Nouveau: M-A-C Cosmetics-$15
  • Chucks: I dunno...

Day 053: Foot In Both Worlds

Photo progression: Annoyed (?)--> Exuberant!!!--> Content ^_^

Past Outfit:

After a long week I was able to go out to dinner with my frans. This is the outfit I decided to wear for that much needed and beloved casual outing. I wanted to be casual but kind of dressy at the same time. For some casualness I wore a grey tank top with a navy and white striped bow on it, my black eternity scarf, and rolled up denim shorts. And for some dressiness I wore grey tights, black booties, and a red sweater with some ruching on the sleeves. Kind of a foot in both worlds type of outfit :)

The Breakdown:
  • Tank: Charlotte Russe-$15
  • Shorts: American Eagle-$35
  • Sweater: Charlotte Russe-$20
  • Tights: Delias-$10
  • Booties: Urban Outfitters-$40
  • Scarf: A gift :)

Day 052: I Spy A Yellow Frisbee

Weird weather this day. Only reason I remember that is because the lighting in the below pictures changes as you will notice. Anyways, enjoy!

Past Outfit:

As I've said in the past I have been intentionally trying to combine unique patterns together. This time I used my umbrella as my accessory to make this happen. I wore a light, flowy creme colored sundress with a delicate floral pattern on it. I got this dress from the Goodwill store. I loved the pattern and the material but wasn't crazy about the length. So, I decided to belt it at my waste and pull the material up over the belt a bit. This gave the top some bagginess (which I liked) and shortened the dress for me. I love it now :) I wore this with my brown lace-up boots, vanilla colored socks, and a black leather, bomber jacket.

The Breakdown:
  • Dress: Goodwill-$6.50
  • Belt: Goodwill-$3
  • Boots: Urban Outfitters-$40
  • Socks: Target-$5 (for 6 pairs)
  • Umbrella- H&M-$10
  • Jacket: Target-$35
P.S. Seriously, I spy a yellow frisbee. Do you?

Day 051: Painting Ariel

On this day I was able to share a wonderful afternoon with my favorite 5 year old, Dana. She came to me a month ago saying she wanted to go paint pottery with me at the Pottery Stop in Ellicott City. She explained to me, in her cute, little precocious way, that they had her favorite princess, Princess Tiana, and my favorite princess, Ariel, and that it would only make sense for us to go. So, of course, we went! I had such a great time with her-picking out the colors, helping her with the details (when she would let me, of course), and just talking with her. What a great day :)

Past Outfit:

It was actually semi-warm that day. YahooOooo! I wore a long-sleeve powder blue sweater with some detailing around the neck. I paired it with my high-waisted black skirt, black tights, navy blue oxfords, and gold flower earrings. I dug up my camel colored, wool trench coat that I adore and added some red lipstick. I was going for a very prim and proper look that day. I wanted everything to be very tidy looking. Going with this I put my hair in a side ponytail with about a zillion bobby pins to keep every hair in place.

The Breakdown:
  • Sweater-Estate sale-free
  • Skirt: H&M-$20
  • Tights: Urban Outfitters-$18
  • Oxfords: Forever 21-$12
  • Earrings: Forever 21-$5
  • Coat: H&M-$20
P.S. That trench coat was $100 on sale for $20. I searched high and low for an affordable trench coat. This coat is proof that it is possible to find what you want for the price that you want! Just keeping plugging away through sale racks! :)

Day 050: You're My River Runnin' High

I have not died! I have actually been taking pictures of many of my outfits but just have not had the time to post them. I so wish this hadn't happened but erm...it is what it is I suppose XD

Past Outfit:

This day was a comfy clothes kinda day! Grey, low-waisted cords, black chucks, and a purple, floral blouse. Added my forest green, chunky sweater and my new-ish pendant necklace and voila! Forest green and plum compliment each other so well in my opinion; there's something so quintessentially Fall about it(which I won't be able to get away with much longer!).

The Breakdown:
  • Cords: Delias-$35
  • Blouse: Macys?-$20
  • Chucks-Journeys?-approx. $40
  • Necklace: Ebay-$10
  • Sweater-Victoria's Secret: $40
